Here are two of my most recent short stories. My themes are to do with the “posthuman” — that illusory figure of the future and now.
Hurray for Gizmo |
In this story “Hurray for Gizmo”, I examine the possibility of an AI gadget, similar to the Amazon Echo of now, having upgrades which enable it to do more than just be able to speak and play music. The posthuman figures as the machine learning how to become more than it already is and the people in the story learning how to love them.

Analogs |
This second story “Analogs” is based on the idea of Sensorimotor primitives, as found in cognitive science. Here the posthuman arrives in the form of a chip embedded in the human brain. The story is about the radical group who don't want this technology and want to be “dechipped”, something which threatens the global authority and the Chief Codemaster and his sinister Programmerat government. |
