Listening and Doing

Hey everyone out there,
All should have ears for this!
Listen very closely,
This should not be missed

Slow down in your speaking,
Let anger's impulse wait,
All such hot emotions,
Get cooler in debate

God would love to see you,
Divorced of all this weight,
It is all around you,
Be humble and don't hate

Accept the word given,
Let it root deep in you,
It will be your rescue,
Because it flowers true

Don't go merely nodding,
To truths that you have heard,
That is self-deception,
Live by the holy word!

Some just hear with one ear,
Their bibles remain closed,
Missing learned lessons,
Who's rules they then oppose

Like a man once looking,
Upon a mirrored wall,
Who, when after leaving,
His face he can't recall

But those staring closely,
At God's most perfect law,
Who then put in action,
The word that's gone before

So doing what's written,
Ensure they are blessed,
They will live a free life,
God does all the rest

Yet, saying 'We're faithful'
Then doing opposite,
Is but self-deception,
When they all shout and spit

A faith that isn't broken,
And one that God accepts,
Is caring for the poor,
When they are in distress

The Father in heaven,
Maintains a perfect view:
Care for the child orphan,
And comfort widows too

Keep from being stained by,
The world that's all around,
That's is where the Lord says,
Religion will be found.
