Give Thanks to the Lord

(from Psalm 118)

The Lord deserves thanks,
His love's for ever more,
The faithful surely say,
That it's the best of all

Those who love the Lord,
Proclaim His growing grace,
Cornered by the crowd,
He sends us into space

With God there is no fear,
What can any know?
None can stop His love,
It wins on every foe

It's better to be hid,
With God than trust in men,
The shelter He provides,
Gives a kingly den

When in the middle of,
A strong and angry throng,
He cuts their onward rush,
Puts them where they belong

Closing in like bees,
They'll burn as woody thorns,
In the name of God,
Their lives will be no more

With backs against the wall,
And near the very edge,
He pulls us from the brink,
And binds us with a pledge

God is our very strength,
The truth that sets us free,
A saviour He's become!
We shout with victory

The houses of the right,
Resound with joyous sound,
They sing His holy praise:
'The Lord is all around,

We won't ever die,
He's raised us up to clouds,
We live to testify,
God's hand is up and proud,

This is where God lives,
We can see the gate,
Only good can pass,
The doors where heaven waits

They are open wide,
For the faithful few,
The answers are in Him,
He makes the world anew.'
